Archeology

On Tuesday July 14th, 2015 Camp Cathy experienced the biggest electrical storm of modern times.  Just prior to the storm, Camp Cathy staff were exploring the grounds – sensing something was about to happen – they had no idea what was about to occur.

At the edge of Echo Beach the found a solitary egg.  As the storm approached, they quickly grabbed the egg and returned to the Main Lodge.

Unsure of what it was, they decided to place the egg it back into the water from the surrounding natural well.  The egg – seen below – was about 4 inches long.

The storm raged outside.  Lightning struck several times in the area – power was out for 17.5 hours.

Over the dark and thunderous night, the egg began to form a crack.

And then something began to appear.

After a while, what we thought was a beak began to appear.
